Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton

Prophecy:I expect this to be an awesome match. Tension will grow between Orton and HHH as Orton "evolves" his role in Evolution, but I don't think it will be over Orton winning the title here. That would rush things a bit. It's good to see Orton stepping up to main event status though, and I'm sure he will hold the title in the future. Orton scored a pinfall over Benoit in the recent 6-man tag on Raw. That might mean something, but Benoit came back by making Orton tap and putting on a great 2-on-1 showing the following week. So we're back to square one. Raw may follow Smackdown's lead by moving the title from a patient, deserving veteran to a fresh up-and-coming character. That goes in Orton's favor. However my gut still tells me that Benoit will retain here. Shelton Benjamin is due to return. Maybe he'll renew the feud that was just getting started with Orton.

Prophecy:ive heard rumors of orton winning and i predict that orton will fight hhh for the title at wm 21

Prophecy:Orton's awesome, i just hope he wins.

Prophecy:This match will be one of the highlights of the year for sure, certainly one of the best Summerslam main events since Rock v Brock. Originally I had Benoit down to retain but now after considering Orton's long push over the past year or so, and a long reign as intercontinental champ, the time has come for him to get the real gold. A guy who goes past talents like HBK/Mick Foley deserves a push for the major title, and the crowd has also started to warm to Randy somewhat (he got cheered over Edge for the most part of his match at the last PPV). The crowd will be heavily on his side, much like they were 2 years ago with Brock over Rocky. Randy will win in a great tussle, then tension will rise between him and HHH. Also, I'd say they took the intercontinental belt off Randy so he could go for the heavyweight strap.

Prophecy:Randy deserves this. Benoit simply cannot draw. I'm a huge fan of Benoit, but most of the fans, simply are not interested as him as champ. But I see Benoit winning here. I think the WWE wants to test Randy in a one-on-one main event. If he does well then WM 21 is set HHH-Orton. But Benoit needs to hold the belt till Survivor Series. Then drop it to Trips.

Prophecy:orton is a good wrestler and all, but he's not quite ready for the world heavyweight title. he will hold it eventually, but not now...

Prophecy:last year i said orton was gonna win summerslam, but unlike last year im gonna be right!

Prophecy:This combined with the Angle-Eddie match would make the card on its own. I'm now definately ordering this PPV (I was questioning ordering it after JBL's opponent was announced - Undertaker?! That match will stink!)! However, it is simply too early for Orton to win the title. He will eventually meet Helmsley for the title at WM21, but he will not be winning the title at SS. He just lost the IC Title, so he's not going to move up too quickly. I think that would be rushing Randy way to fast. However, I have had a change of heart. Orton will need some time to develop himself as a champion before WM, and he should take the belt here. Also, if an evolution break is going to happen, Orton is gonna have to beat Benoit first try, whereas HHH couldn't beat him on numerous occasions.

Prophecy:Chris Benoit Will Definetley win this match against Randy Orton so come on chris benoit do the cripller crossface on him and show him who is the world heavyweight champion

Prophecy:Randy Orton won't win the title, because it will ruin Triple H.

Prophecy:This is probably the toughest match to call on the whole card. I'll say Randy as he is the most deserving superstar (except maybe Jericho) to win the title.

Prophecy:I like Randy Orton, and he was a great Intercontinental Champion, but he is just not ready for the World Heavyweight Championship. He has only been in the WWE for about 2 years and he is only 24 years old. I believe he will hold the World Heavyweight Championship someday (possibly WrestleMania 21), but SummerSlam 2004 is just too early.

Prophecy:The Legend Killer will win the belt!

Prophecy:Ok, remember when it was Brock v. Van Dam for the Intercontiental title a few years ago? And Brock lost, ended his winning streak, right before Summerslam. Well I think the WWE is bringing out that old story line to make sure Orton wins this match. He is young, a above average wrestler, and his greatest skill with the Mic. Orton wins and starts a three way fued with HBK, and Kane for the title. Sounds good to me.

Prophecy:Its his time to shine, even tho he's ridiculously over-rated

Prophecy:I changed my mind i heard at unforgiven kane will be in the main event and i dont think that they will have kane as the number 1 contender against benoit again so im going with orton.

Prophecy:I'm not big on Chris Benoit losing in Canada but I hope Randy wins here causing tension between him and Triple H, eventually leading to Randy leaving evolution.

Prophecy:Benoit certainly is a great champion, but with Orton on top of the game, it just sets up great feuds between Evolution that the crowd would love. It's definitey Orton's time to shine!
