Rey Mysterio vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield

Prophecy:Well, on the one hand, we've got Batista's eminent return. That makes me think that Mysterio has to drop the belt to a heel in the not-too-distant future. However, I think that heel will be Orton, and even if it's JBL this is only the first title match between these two. I'm sure there will be others. Rey probably won't lose in his first PPV defense, especially after getting beaten in what is likely to be 3 straight non-title matches. Bradshaw will fill his current role as jobber to the stars and fall victim to a quick roll-up.

Prophecy:Rey has got his ass kicked the last 3 weeks, he deserves the win here. I say JBL beats Rey for the championship at Great American Bash. WOAHH!! NOW THERE ARE RUMOURS CHAVO WILL INTERFERE ON JBL'S BEHALF TO SCREW REY OUT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Prophecy:Rey has to have one successful title defense on PPV. Remember, he put JBL over at No Mercy last year, so maybe JBL can return the favor here. Plus, as Tocc said, Batista will be returning, and a heel turn from him would make a great feud between him and Rey. With that taken care of, it makes sense for Rey to retain. The only thing that bugs me about this, is that they are saying that Cena will be defending the title against Edge at Vengeance, that means either RVD will be facing JBL or he will lose to Cena at ECW One Night Stand. I highly doubt that RVD will lose at an ECW event, so I can see that scenario definitley happening. But, Rey will have had an incredibly short run with the belt (barely over a month) if he loses, and I don't think the WWE will let the "winning for Eddie" storyline be made to look pointless. Therefore, I think Rey will retain.

Prophecy:JBL for the win, RVD to beat him at One Night Stand II.

Prophecy:Rey Rey really isn't that good a wrestler he looses a lot! JBL is the next world champ.

Prophecy:The rumors of JBL facing RVD at ONS2 are perhaps the most logical thing to do with the title - Cena's lack of heat would mean RVD carries the match more than he has to, and you've got a guy in JBL who has a negative history with ECW - the Blue Meanie incident from last year should still hold his heat in the fans eyes. If Rey-Rey holds onto the belt, then he's cannon fodder for a DAVE! return. Interestingly enough as well, the King of the Ring tournament is being held around the same time...Might be one of the favorites to go over there (Lashley) gets a push for a program with Rey-Rey...

Prophecy:Although I would love to see Rey keep the belt, I know that Layfield will win because there are too many heavyweights waiting in line. Rey is a great champ but he can't stand up to the big boys.

Prophecy:I can see Batista coming back and challenging JBL right there, Like Hulk did at Wrestlemania IX.

Prophecy:It's too soon to have Rey drop the belt . RVD is going to face John Cena at ONS II and smoke his ass in front of a 100% Partisan RVD/ECW crowd. ECW fans hate JBL but they would really be all over Cena's ass. RVD vs Cena is the bigger and better draw for the pay-per-view. Rey will go over JBL and Booker T( KOTR winner) On his way to summer slam where he could lose to Batista or Angle.

Prophecy:Im changing my pick to Rey Mysterio because this will be the ONLY title defense on PPV that he will EVER have so I say Rey drops it to Batista or Orton in a short time after Judgement Day or at the GAB.

Prophecy:I don't see Rey losing the title to JBL. I think Rey will hold onto it until Orton comes back and then lose to him, setting up a Batista/Orton match for the title.

Prophecy:It is about time that JBL is in the World title picture again. That being said,he will not walk out of Judgement Day with both belts. This will probally be a DQ victory on his behalf. This really hasnt been built up yet. Although,Batistas return will be soon and a heel will need the belt to lose it to The Animal. Also, RVD is "Supposed" to challange JBL at ECW ONS. If he challanges him..JBl needs the big belt. But the fact lately is...JBLhas had both Henry and Khali whoop Rey all over the place. That could be bad on Bradshaws behalf. Another theory is...Whoever wins the KOTR tournement would look good for a title shot...I want Lashley to win it..so...Unless Lashley goes heel( not happening).. Alot of signs point to both having a victory...but JBL has more going for him . As his loyal fan..Lets strip Amigo Numero Tres of his gold

Prophecy:I really don't want to see JBL win the title again. Rumor has it that Rey has a knee injury and may be out for a while but I'm still going to go with him.

Prophecy:The entire situation in its own is messed up. Randy Orton and Kurt Angle are out of the title hunt for now because there is a pending feud coming up between the two of them based on Orton's last night on SmackDown when Angle broke his leg. If Batista is coming back to an immediate title hunt, it most likely will not be against JBL because they had their feud run this time last year. This means that Rey Mysterio will have to determine where the title goes. Chances are that neither him nor Batista will take a heel turn that would allow them to face eachother for the belt. This means that there probably is some outlying person that will come in and take the belt. Mark Henry won't get it, and neither will The Undertaker. So I'm all ears for a reasonable solution to this equation. Point is: Rey wins.

Prophecy:for those of you saying that rey's too quick, or JBL will win because he is bigger, and whatnot... haha we're talking WWE... no logics involved... its all storyline baby... rey wont lose the title in his first PPV defense...although Orton did back on Raw... but i think in this case, JBL is a main-event-heel-filler... no Orton now..... also, i see a Kane interference resulting in a DQ...? maybe?
